Notes & Combos
I was originally playing almost the same deck as last month, swapping out Swords of Revealing Light and The Regulation of Tribe for Curse of Anubis and Windstorm of Etaqua because Lyrilusc - Promenade Thrush was giving me a hard time. However, when I was stuck in Legend 2, I managed to complete my Spellbook Sky Striker deck, so I swapped to it. Playing an archetype that is actually on the tier list really felt different; the climb immediately became unbelievably easy, and before I knew it I got to KoG.
I love Spellbook so I had to include the draw engine, but it does really help! Spellbook essentially increases the number of Normal Summons from 2 to 6, but instead of Raye being bad to open in multiples, extra Spellbook Spells can be sent by Area Zero or Multirole to put more Spells in GY and get advantage, so they are not always bricks. Actually, opening 2 Spellbook Spells is good! Normally, the draw engine puts 2 Spells into the GY. With a second Spellbook Spell in hand, Spellbook of Knowledge can send that card instead to draw, instantly putting 3 Spells into the GY. Spellbook Magician of Prophecy can then be sent by Area Zero for advantage, or linked into Artemis to allow for other Sky Striker Spells to activate.
Once the Spellbook engine is used, sending Area Zero to summon Raye from deck is the main way to get access to her. The biggest weakness of the deck is the higher possibility to have no access to Raye (Area Zero + Multirole/Afterburners), but I believe the advantage given by the draw engine in a 20-card format makes the access quite easy, especially when Engage is free to search for one of the cards and draw a card as well, instead of searching for Raye or Vector Blast with no Spells in GY. Could play a second Multirole to increase chances, but 1 was enough for me, and with Linkage leaked, the future seems to be leaning towards 1 Multirole anyways, so I don't want to spend gems pulling for a second one.
Vector Blast is still played to put Spells in GY if I don't open the Spellbook engine, and for the non-targeting removal, which came up more than I thought it would. Hercules Base is played mainly because I burn through the deck really fast and need the recycling, but the equip effect surprisingly came up during the climb. For the Extra Deck, Utopic Ray Lancer is good against Lyrilusc, Traffic Ghost is good against Bishbaalkin and is a DARK Link for the skill.
