Notes & Combos

Hello everyone, back again as always with my favorite Skill, brushing off the dust since the last time! This time I tried something with Dogmatika, and the results were quite satisfying. The ability to deplete your opponent’s Extra Deck thanks to Maximus gives the deck a big edge, especially since that’s where most threats to the deck come from.

Dogmatika also offers the possibility of a double interruption thanks to Punishment. This card has really elevated the deck because, being a slow deck, having some breathing room to disrupt two monsters is huge. And you can do that thanks to Elder Entity N’tss and Golden Lord. What do I mean by this? That in most cases, this guarantees you survive the turn!

Now, Paleozoic Canadia – what is such an old card doing in today’s game? Well, in this meta full of RANK-UP spells, this card acts as a direct counter to them. Why? Because they need to target a face-up monster, and Canadia flips it face-down, causing the spell to lose its target and fizzle. That’s why fast-selecting traps like Punishment, Compulsory Evacuation Device, and Canadia are very effective in this meta.

GOD LORD – unfortunately, due to the popularity of Shaddoll, Cosmic Cyclone is more common now. Even so, it's still useful – not every deck runs it, and it still helps against several matchups, but not as much as before. So, I had to bring in an old friend: the good Mana. The first Lord in the game isn’t as good as The Lord, but it helps counter Cosmic Cyclone. However, unlike the Lord, Mana doesn't protect; it only activates after the trap leaves the field, so it’s not that great, and that’s why I only run one.

As for Dogmatik Nexus, I preferred this card over Fleur because it helped me a lot in the Shaddoll matchups by banishing their Fusions. The truth is, Fleur either got removed easily by Ecclesia or did nothing, ending up as a dead card in hand.

Secret Blast – what is a card like this doing in the deck? It’s basically aimed at punishing opponents for using Cosmic Cyclone, and it also serves as bait for Cyclone when The Lord doesn’t show up.

Would I recommend playing this deck? Honestly, NO, unless you have a very strong mindset. You’re going to have a rough time. Since it’s a deck without consistency skills, you rely heavily on luck, and that means many duels will be frustrating when you can't do much—or anything at all.

Some of you already know me here and know this is my favorite Skill. I have fun playing around it, but the reality is that it's a 2016 Skill, and it really shows. If you want to give the deck a try, I’d recommend playing it with Avaricious Spellcraft, especially with Invoked, and not focusing so much on traps like I did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RXXn4Aqxqo
