Notes & Combos
Redownloaded Duel Links last month after a long, 2 year exile. I saw that some of my favorite archetypes like Tri-Brigade, Dinosaurs, and Subterrors were finally added/seeing much needed support and decided to jump back in and try them out. Naturally, I would end up on a deck that are none of those, and quite far from them. Suship, Exosisters and Overlay Network is a polygamous relationship made in heaven. Suships' consistency, Overlay Network's flexbility, and Exosisters' raw power all rolled together in one tightly packed little deck. For tournament play, I wouldn't know how spicy this recipe would be in a BO3 format, however, as far as the gamble of KOG climbing is concerned, it's certainly got a kick to it. Suships and Exosisters don't care about their graveyard, so D.D. crow & other graveyard hate options are dead in the water, and while a mid combo effect veiler may sting, most of this deck's plays require very little commitment, so you can easily course correct in the wake of an unexpected negate. Going first, you kind of have to rely on instinct to know what your opponent will be playing, the two biggest threats against this deck going first is Shadoll and Heroes. Luckily, both Shaddoll and Heroes give away their strategies as their skills activate before the duel even begins, so I recommend setting up an Abyss Dweller and deep drawing with the Suship XYZs against both, typically you will end up with enough to at least stiffle their plays and survive to beat them over the head with suships. Utopia & other monster centric combo decks hate Exosisters, if you can land Magnifica on the field during your first turn, you might as well shake hands then and there. Going Second is where this deck really shines, being able to facilitate a turn 1 omni-negate in the form of Shari Red's hand effect (as well as a search if you don't already have your level 5 Suship in hand, thanks, Overlay Network!) forces your opponent to spend their strongest resources out the gate, lest they want Exosisters to swarm the field. Forbidden Droplet & Book Of Eclipse are completely optional tech options, you could probably get away with kickin' it oldschool and running Chalice/Book Of Moon, however I must stress that a Kaiju-type card is massively important for going second against Utopia & Heroes. As for replays, I had a lot of "connection errors" during the climb, but hopefully you can get the jist of the gameplan from what I could salvage.
